The obstructed jet in Mrk 231

چکیده
Mrk~231 is the closest radio-quiet quasar known and one of most luminous infrared galaxies in local Universe. It characterised by co-existence a radio jet powerful multi-phase multi-scale outflows, making it an ideal laboratory to study active galactic nucleus (AGN) feedback. We analyse multi-epoch very long baseline interferometry data estimate head advance speed be $\lesssim0.013\ c$, suggesting sub-relativistic flow. The position angle changes from $-113^\circ$ inner parsec $-172^\circ$ at projected distance 25 parsec. structure change might result either bending following rotation circum-nuclear disc or projection helical on plane sky. In large opening ($\sim60^\circ$) cone, curved interacts with interstellar medium creates wide-aperture-angle shocks which subsequently dissipate portion power through radiation contribute powering large-scale outflows. low bent jet, as well extensive dissipation, are consistent obstruction short-length host galaxy's environment.

0 Stellar Populations in the Host Galaxies of Mrk 1014 , IRAS 07598 + 6508 , and Mrk 231
We present deep spectroscopic and imaging data of the host galaxies of Mrk 1014, IRAS 07598+6508, and Mrk 231. These objects form part of both the QSO and the ultraluminous infrared galaxy (ULIG) families, and may represent a transition stage in an evolutionary scenario. Our imaging shows that all three objects have highly perturbed hosts with tidal tails and destroyed disks, and appear to be i...
متن کاملVLBI Imaging of Luminous Infrared Galaxies : AGN Cores in Mrk 231 , UGC 5101 & NGC 7469
We report 18cm VLBI continuum imaging observations at ∼5 milliarcsecond resolution for UGC 5101, NGC 7469, and Mrk 231, all part of a sample of Luminous Infrared Galaxies which have been shown to have strong VLBI radio cores in a previous 18cm VLBI survey. Mrk 231, generally considered to be a dust-enshrouded QSO, shares many characteristics with quasars, including a broad, Sy1 optical emission...
متن کاملXMM - Newton Observation of Fe K α emission from a BAL QSO : Mrk 231
We present results from a 20 ksec XMM-Newton observation of Mrk 231. EPIC spectral data reveal strong line emission due to Fe Kα, which has rarely been detected in this class, as BAL QSOs are very faint in the X-ray band. The line energy is consistent with an origin in neutral Fe. The width of the line is equivalent to a velocity dispersion ∼ 18, 000 km s and thus the line may be attributed to ...

متن کاملParsec-scale radio structures in the nuclei of four Seyfert galaxies
We present 18-cm radio maps of four Seyfert nuclei, Mrk 1, Mrk 3, Mrk 231 and Mrk 463E, made with the European VLBI Network (EVN). Linear radio structures are present in three out of four sources on scales of ∼100 pc to ∼1 kpc, and the 20-mas beam of the EVN enables us to resolve details within the radio structures on scales of < 10 pc. Mrk 3 was also imaged using MERLIN and the data combined w...
